Eyelashes have a lifespan of about 3 months before they fall out and are replaced by new ones.

This life cycle consists of 3 phases:

  1. Anagen phase (growth phase): This phase lasts about 30 to 45 days. During this time, the eyelashes actively grow from the hair follicles.

  1. Catagen phase (transition phase): This short phase lasts about 2 to 3 weeks. Growth stops and the hair follicle shrinks and prepares to release the eyelash.

  1. Telogen phase (resting phase): This phase lasts about 100 days. The eyelash rests and remains on the eyelid until it eventually falls out and is replaced by a new eyelash.

This cycle ensures that we continuously have new eyelashes to protect our eyes. Overall, eyelashes have a lifespan of about 3 to 5 months.
